Mike WheelerMike Wheeler represents District 4 which encompasses the entire eastern half of Butler County. Communities in District 4 include the east half of the City of El Dorado, and the communities of Beaumont, Cassoday, Latham, Leon and Rosalia.

Commissioner Wheeler was originally appointed by Governor Bill Graves in January 2003 to fill a two-year term for the newly created District 4 position. Commissioner Wheeler was re-elected and sworn into office January 2019 for a four-year term that expires January 2023. He has served as Commission Chair in 2005, 2014 and 2015.

Commissioner Wheeler is a graduate of Leadership Butler and Leadership Kansas, has a Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst University, and has owned and operated supermarkets in El Dorado and Eureka Kansas for 25 years. For the past 20 years he has worked as a Realtor and Real Estate Broker in El Dorado. Mike has served as Chairman of the Susan B. Allen Hospital Board and President of the Susan B. Allen Hospital Foundation Board. He has also served as Committee Chair of the El Dorado Red Devil Chefs and currently serves as a Unit Commissioner in the High Plains District of Quivira Council for Boy Scout Troop 222 and Cub Scout Pack 222.

Residing in El Dorado since 1981, Mike and his wife Debbie, a Guidance Counselor at Circle High School, have two adult children.
