Natural Disaster Tax Abatement

Were you or someone you know impacted by the tornado which occurred in Andover the evening of April 29, 2022? If so, please keep reading and notify those you know who might benefit from this option:

On May 17, 2022, the Butler County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution 22-19, approving a policy and procedure for possible tax relief for property owners whose property is destroyed, or substantially destroyed, as a result of natural disasters.  According to Statute KSA 79-1613, the County Commission may issue an abatement of all or partial property taxes on dwellings or buildings and improvements where damage occurred during a natural disaster and would exceed more than 50% of the market value of the structure.
