CERT Basic Class
Saturday, November 19, 2022
Butler County Emergency Management is once again offering the free 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Class.
Throughout what appears to be an increasing trend in disasters and other major emergencies, there have been many examples of the important role that citizens play in their communities during these events. As emergency responders and government resources are stretched and sometimes overwhelmed, neighbors repeatedly step up to help neighbors in need.
As you have watched these stories play out, have you wondered how you could be better prepared to help your friends, family and neighbors (and beyond) in a disaster? If so, consider participating in a CERT Class.
In November, Butler County Emergency Management is once again offering the free 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Class. Through a combination of classroom presentations, hands-on activities, and a final disaster scenario, this course equips citizens to "bridge the gap" between a community's needs and available help.
Class size is limited to the first 25 registrants. Teens age 14 and older are welcome to join us as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the program. For EMS-certified participants, continuing education credit will be available. For more information, contact the Emergency Management office at 316-733-9796 of kkorthals@butlerema.org/ To sign up visit the online registration form at http://www.bucoks.com/7113/CERT-Classes or call the office.
