About the Division
Other deputies assigned to this division typically work as training coordinators. The Training and Standards Division also utilizes deputies with various specializations from other divisions to help with internal training requirements.Responsibilities
This division is responsible for a wide variety of duties. The primary function is in coordinating, reporting, and documenting all departmental training. Every law enforcement officer in the State of Kansas is required to complete no less than 40 hours of continuing education per year, and the Training and Standards Division ensures this requirement is met for all deputies. This includes maintaining several training programs for approximately 60 commissioned deputies and selective training for the Detention Division as necessary.The Training and Standards Division also ensures that deputies are kept proficient and up-to-date on current law enforcement procedures, legislation, and case law. The Training and Standards Division also manages mandated departmental compliance and certification related issues.
