Aging

Mission

Butler County Department on Aging’s mission is to link older adults with the services they need to ensure a continuum of care.

We serve all citizens of Butler County who are age 60 or over.

About the Department

The Butler County Department on Aging serves all citizens age 60 and over in Butler County, Kansas. The Butler County Board of County Commissioners originally established the Department on Aging in 1989. Funding is made possible through the county senior mill levy, state and federal funding, donations / memorials, and the United Way. Also, we are one of three counties to make up the Central Plains Area Agency on Aging, the others being Harvey and Sedgwick counties.

Responsibilities

While we wear many hats, our primary focus is to offer information and assistance to the citizens of Butler County and their loved ones. From this focus has grown the many programs and services we are able to offer today.

The Butler County Department on Aging is also the caretaker of the senior mill levy. Through this mill levy funding, we are able to help fund Butler County's ten senior centers, the Bradford Library outreach program, and Butler County’s portion of the Senior Care Act and Older Americans Act in-home programs.
