Andover
Andover Tornado Monument - On April 26, 1991 a tornado changed the lives of this community forever. This monument is a tribute to the courage of those who survived, determined to rebuild their neighborhoods. In the 100 block of North Andover Rd. (316) 733-0648.

Robert M. Martin Habitat Development Center - This development center is an outdoor education center designed to provide real life, hands-on environmental studies for students in kindergarten through third grade. The center is used by students, teachers, parents, senior citizens, clubs and scouts. Located at Martin Primary North, 1413 N. Main. Augusta

C. N. James Log Cabin - This 1868 two-story log structure, which served as a general store and was the first building in Augusta, is on the National Register. It is one of only 2 log cabins on its original site in the State of Kansas. Tours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mon. through Sat. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sundays. 305 State Street (316) 775-5655.

Docking Memorial - In honor of former Kansas Governor Robert Docking who served from 1967 to 1975. The 100 block of 7th Street. (316) 775-6339

Henry's Sculpture Hill - Over 28 metal sculptures including deer, bison, grasshopper and other giant creatures adorn this hill. Sat., 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. and Sun., Noon - 4:00 p.m. Visitors call in advance. East of Augusta 3.7 miles on old 54 Hwy. and Boyer Road. (316) 775-5296.

Historic Theatre
- A 1935 art deco building with ornamental plaster, murals and stenciled ceiling, features movies, performing arts and community activities. Post Office Mural
- The U.S. Treasury Dept. commissioned the oil mural, "Kansas Gusher" by Donald Silks which has been placed on the National Register. Viewing 24 hours a day in the post office lobby - 119 East Fifth - (316) 775-6141.

Vietnam War Memorial
- Erected for the Vietnam War Veterans, daylight only. It is located in the Elmwood Cemetery, 12th and Ohio St. (316) 775-6339.

Beaumont
Beaumont Hotel - Fly or drive to this historic cow town and imagine this 1879 hotel bustling with cattle buyers and Frisco railroad workers. Main Street (620) 843-2422.


1885 Frisco Water Tower - National and State Register of Historic Sites. The last remaining Frisco built wooden water tower of its kind in the USA, to our knowledge, provided water for steam locomotives, other train operations as well as for the stockyards for cattle being shipped in to pasture on the bountiful bluestem grass of the Flinthills. 3rd and D Street (620) 843-2591 or (620) 843-2298. Benton

Douglass
Douglass Community Building - This building was constructed in 1938 of native stone for the Works Project Administration by Italian stone cutters and builders and is still used for community and social events. (National Register) 206 S. Forrest (316) 747-2109.

Muddy Creek Bridge - A reinforced concrete bridge listed on the National Register and is believed to have been built between 1900 - 1910. It is one of only ten reinforced concrete arch bridges still in use in Kansas. Located one mile North of Douglass on Hwy 77 and 3 1/2 miles east on 200th Street. (316) 776-0900

El Dorado
Ellet Brothers Civil War Monument - In honor of the five Ellet brothers of Butler County who heroically served the Union forces. Daylight hours. East of Butler County History Center & Kansas Oil Museum, 303 E. Central, (316) 321-9333.

Historic Butler County Courthouse - This beautiful 1909 Romanesque Style Courthouse was conceived by the famous architect George P. Washburn. Open for self-guided tours during regular business hours. 205 W. Central (316) 321-9333.

Historic Carnegie Library - Privately owned with no public access. Hand-cut stones, Spanish tile roof, native white limestone, (locally quarried) distinguishes the town's first library built in 1912, funded in part by Andrew Carnegie. (National Register) 101 S. Star.

Missouri Pacific Railroad Depot - The mission style building with a red-tile roof and brickwork romances the great period of rail travel. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Stapelton #1 Historic Well Site - Follow the brown and white signs on N. Haverhill or 6th Street. See the ghost town of Oil Hill and monument that honors the 1915 oil boom. Daylights hours only. (316) 321-9333.

William Allen White Monument
- This monument commemorates Pulitzer Prize winning editor who was born and reared in El Dorado. Daylight hours only. Vine and Central in Post Office area. (316) 321-9333.


Celebration of Freedom Memorial - Honoring armed forces and home front supporters. Located on the lawn of the historic Butler County Courthouse in El Dorado. A bronze eagle sculpture is on the east lawn and a replica of the statue of Liberty on the west lawn. The entrance to the memorial walkway of veteran's names, is marked by a Signers panel engraved with the names of the 56 Americans who signed the Declaration of Independence. (316) 321-3150

Keighley

Old Frisco Bridge - The art deco, concrete reinforced bridge was built in 1935 for the Frisco Railroad and is located one mile east of Keighley along Hwy 400 (K96) and Gray Road. (316) 321-9333.

Latham
Rock Creek Stone Arch Bridge - Turn back the clock and drive across this graceful old bridge. From Latham, Hwy 200 West 1 1/2 mile to Satchel Creek Road, turn left and proceed to bridge. (316) 321-9333

Leon
Leon Cemetery- Historic graveyard for Civil War Veterans. See Congressional Medal of Honor winner Joseph Wartick Medal of Honor headstone. Hwy 400 and Bluestem Road (316) 742-3204.

Potwin
1917 Community House and Park - Funds donated by individuals. Every man in the town helped build this community house and picnic area. Miller and Violet Street.

1904 Old Limestone Building - Rock building served as Potwin's first bank and now is the library. 117 N. Randall.

Sink Hole - This hole, which appeared in 1937 is 58' deep with 15' to water, 250' long, 200' wide. Located on the curve of 196 Hwy around Potwin on the east side of road. Near the site of the 1915 Vickers Oil Company first refinery. Call ahead (316) 752-3359 for guide.

Rose Hill
Pole Cat Creek Bridge - This graceful stone bridge was built in 1910 and displays beautiful native stone work. (Register of Historic Places) Located 6 miles south of Rose Hill to 230th Street and 1 1/12 miles east. (316) 776-0900.
