The Sheriff's Office has a wide range of programs and services to the community.

The Community Policing Section is led by, Sgt. Phil Wickwire, Nationally Trained Crime Prevention Practitioner.

The Community Policing Section provides programs such as:

  • Neighborhood Watch
  • Alarm Systems Analyses
  • Home and Business Security Surveys
  • National Night Out (August 2nd every year)
  • Children Presentations:
    Bicycle Safety - Gun Safety - Internet Safety - Stranger Danger Awareness
  • School Safety Programs throughout the school year.
  • We provide Child Identification Programs such as:
    "Dingo" - "Iris Scan" - I.D. Systems
    Our Children Programs are open to all pre-school aged children.

The Community Policing Section gets involved in most of our town festivals and has been involved with Prairie Port since it started. Providing extra security and safety programs in the park each year.

We provide the (DARE) Drug Abuse Resistance Education program for most Butler County Schools. We teach Kindergarten through 8th grade DARE.

We provide the School Resource Officer program for the Douglass School District. The School Districts in unincorporated areas without an Assigned School Resource Officer are assisted by the DARE Deputies. All the deputies assigned to this section are Nationally Trained School Recourse Officers.
