BUTLER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Commission Chairman Randy Doll called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order. Present were Commissioner Bill Shriver & Commissioner Will Carpenter; Will Johnson, Jr., County Administrator and County Clerk Secretary, Linda S. Peterson.

 

KDOT NOXIOUS WEED AGREEMENT

Riley Walters, Director of the Butler County Noxious Weed Department presented for approval an agreement between KDOT and Butler County.  This agreement outlines the right-of-way terms for spraying of noxious weed in Butler County.

 

Commissioner Shriver moved to accept the agreement with KDOT for noxious weed spraying and authorize the Chairman to sign.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

BIDS FOR DEPARTMENT ON AGING VAN

Connie Rausch, Department on Aging Director presented to the Board sealed bids for a 1995 Ford Van to be sold to the highest bidder.  Bids are as follows:

 

Lakepoint Nursing Home            $6,101.00

 

Commissioner Shriver moved to sale the 1995 van to the Lakepoint Nursing Home in the amount of $6,101.00.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried

3-0.

 

PARALLEL ROAD FOR PRAIRIE ROSE

Darryl Lutz, Public Works Director and Larry Powell, Economic Development, presented a report on the administration of grant funds and road construction work for Parallel Road projects for Prairie Rose Chuckwagon. It is required to have a certified grant administrator to handle the CDBG funds.

 

Commissioner Doll moved to receive the report and authorize the Butler County Economic Development and the Department of Public Works to proceed with the solicitation of the grant process.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

EDGEWATER ADDITION ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

Darryl Lutz, Public Works Director presented to the Board to consider reimbursement of a portion of the road impact fees for road improvements to 79th St. in accordance with an agreement and request by Augusta Township. 

 

Commissioner Doll moved to not allow the reimbursement of the road impact fees, until Norman Manley, the County’s Attorney has written up an agreement for the Township and County to sign.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

OTHER ITEMS

 

Darryl Lutz informed the Board, the transmission of the landfill compactor has been damaged and is at Foley Tractor.  They have given an estimate of $13,500 to repair the transmission.

Larry Powell, Economic Development, informed the Commissioners that they need to appoint a person to fill the spot that Administrator Johnson had held.  The Economic Board will present applicants to the County Commission Board for approval.

 

Commissioner Carpenter will be attending the KAC conference May 8, 9 and 10.

 

Commissioner Doll will be attending the KAC conference on May 8.

 

Commissioner Carpenter will be gone Monday, April 8th and Tuesday April 9th.

 

Commissioner Shriver meet with the Leon Senior Citizens Center and they are looking at rebuilding and remodeling their facility, but the grant money they have applied for will cover everything but $70,000.  Commissioner Shriver told them to get in contact with Jim Schmidt, and see what he could do for them.

10:28 a.m. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.
