COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Tuesday, February 12, 2002
Commission Chairman Randy Doll called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order. Present were Commissioners Bill Shriver & Will Carpenter; Jay Newton, County Administrator and Commission Secretary, Linda Peterson.
Commissioner Shriver moved to approve the Abates in the amount of -$4,347.20, with the approval #2089. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.
Motion carried 3-0.
Ron Roberts, County Clerk, came before the Board to inform them of the meeting with the Rosehill School Board on their mill levy, not being included. Mr. Roberts informed the board that the Superintendent of Schools had indicated they would be interested in working out some type of agreement with the County. However, the School Board President was reluctant to become involved in the process, feeling the Clerk’s office made the oversight and the problem should be fixed by the County with as little involvement as possible from school system. They also requested the Clerk furnish them information on the No Fund Warrant process, and if the additional levies were subject to protest petitions.
Commissioner Shriver moved to offer to fund a No Fund Warrant to Rosehill School. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
SW 170TH ST. PROJECT—ENGINEERING
AGREEMENT
Darryl Lutz, P.E., Director of Public Works, presented to the Board for approval an agreement with Poe & Associates to provide design and plan preparation services related to the reconstruction of SW 170th St. between the Sedgwick County Line and Butler Road.
Commissioner Shriver moved to approve the agreement between Poe & Associates for the design and plan preparation of said reconstruction in the amount of $57,400.00. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
Darryl Lutz, P.E., Director of Public Works, presented to the Board for approval and execution of the Real Estate agreement between David C. Wentz and Bethel Jo Wentz for the sale of the Old 54 Roadside Park in the amount of $16,535.00.
Commisoner Shriver made a motion to approve the real estate sale in the amount of $16,535.00 and authorize the Chairman to sign and adopt resolution #02-06 authorizing the sale of the Old 54 Roadside Park. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0
Darryl Lutz, P.E., Director of Public Works, presented to the Board a recommendation for construction of several Township Culverts. There has been one request in each township with a total of 10 for this year.
Commissioner Carpenter made the motion to approve the County Engineer to proceed with final plans and specifications for the construction of reinforced concrete box culverts (Culvert Letting No 57) subject to final Township approval. Commissioner Shriver seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
Commissioner Shriver moved to receive the bids for Grant Helferich, Director of EMS to review. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0
Grant Helferich, Director of EMS, came back before the Board and stated that the bid received had included everything that was specified. Commissioner Shriver moved to accept the bid for $5,536.00 from Michigan Instrument. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
Ron Roberts, County Clerk and Marcy Zwall, Clerk came before the Board for approval of new shelving in the Clerks vault for organization of Clerks, Elections and Commission files.
Commissioner Carpenter moved to approve the purchase of the new shelving in the amount of $3,580.00. Commissioner Shriver seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
The Commissioner requested that Scott Stoskopf be put on the agenda for next week to present information on televising the County Commission meetings.
Commissioner Doll commented on the lawsuit for Personal Injury for Michael Laforge. This lawsuit was filed against the City of El Dorado, Butler County and Banks Construction for negligence in the 200 block of South Main where the new construction is going on for the new Judicial building. Mr. Newton informed the Commissioners that the lawsuit had been turned over to our attorneys and the Insurance carriers.
Commissioner Doll moved to
adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
