BUTLER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Monday, April 15, 2002

 

Commission Chairman Randy Doll called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order at 9:00 a.m. Present were Commissioner Bill Shriver; Commissioner Will Carpenter; County Administrator, Will Johnson Jr., and County Clerks Secretary,

Linda Peterson.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commissioner Shriver moved to approve the Butler County Commission meeting minutes of Monday April 8, 2002 and Tuesday, April 9, 2002, as amended.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0.

 

VOUCHERS

Commissioner Shriver moved to approve the vouchers in the amount of $351,070.62 dated April 15, 2002.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion. 

Motion carried 3-0.

 

ADDS/ABATES

Commissioner Carpenter moved to approve the abates in the amount of $14,740.28, with approval #2104.  Commissioner Shriver seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS/WASHINGTON & STAR ST.

Will Johnson Jr., County Administrator presented to the Board a special assessment for a paving project for Washington and Star St. in the amount of $272.01.  Mr. Johnson suggests the County set up a check to pay this assessment.

 

Commissioner Shriver moved to pay the special assessment in the amount of $272.01.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

JOINT DEFENSE

Mr. Winton Hinkle is requesting to have the information waived in the attorney-client privileged to discuss and disclose legal matters with Equilon Enterprises LLC other attorneys working on the Texaco IRS audit.

 

Commissioner Shriver moved to let Butler County enter into an agreement in the form presented to this meeting with Shell Oil Company relating to tax matters with respect to the County’s 1994 Solid Waste Disposal Revenue Bonds, and that the Chairman be authorized to execute the agreement on behalf of the County.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

OTHER ITEMS:

 

NO FUND LEVY WARRANT FOR DOUGLASS SCHOOL DISTRICT

Commissioner Shriver moved to approve the No Fund Warrant between Butler County and Douglass School District 396 in the amount of $17,619.00.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.

 

The Andover Newspaper is not receiving legal publications relating to the Western side of the County.  Commissioner Doll asked Will Johnson to review.

 

Commissioner Carpenter announced that he might be gone next Tuesday, due to Jury duty.

 

Commissioner Doll stated that they have a trailer for Ben Crooks, Jail Administrator from Williams Scotsman in the amount of $3,915.00.  There will be a Monthly charge of  $265.00.

 

Administrator Johnson informed the Commissioners that there was a woman employee of the 911 department harassed while leaving work around 2:00 a.m.  Chris Davis will be checking into options like, more lighting, parking spaces closer to the building or escort the person to their vehicle.
