BUTLER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Butler County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Commission Chairman, Bill Shriver. Present were Commissioners Randy Doll and Will Carpenter
along with County Administrator, Jay Newton and Clerk’s Secretary, Tindel Jennison.
BIDS FOR THE JAIL
Project
The Commission discussed (4) bids received for the Jail Project.
1) $
270,804.00-roofing, sheet metal
2) $ 42,650.00 –chain link fence
3) $
114,779.00-for metal fabrication, fencing
4) $
478,825.00- for carpentry
CEREAL MALT
BEVERAGE LICENSE
Motion by Commissioner Doll for approval of a CMB License issued to Driftwood of 262 NE State Rd Hwy 177, El Dorado. Owners are James and Kay Owings and license is for Consumption on the Premises. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Carpenter, passed 3-0
PLANNING MATTERS
1) Motion by Commissioner Doll for the final approval of the Plat for Hailey Hills
Estate and the acceptance of the right-of-way and easements. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Carpenter, passed 3-0.
2) Planning and Zoning Director Todd Kennemer presented a revised proposal of the storm shelter for Beaumont. Kennemer advised that Peter Ferrell would donate the land for the storm shelter. Commission is in support, but advised that the location needs to be approved by planning and zoning to avoid any future problems.
INTERNAL AUDITOR
POSITION
Motion by Commissioner Doll for the approval of Internal Auditor at Grade 16.
Position
will be located in the Administration Office but be supervised by the County
Clerk. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Carpenter, passed 3-0.
1)
The Director of Public Works to seek proposals for Professional Engineering
services related to evaluating and reporting alternatives for rehabilitating
the Walnut River Bridge East of Augusta on SW 100th St. Commissioner
Shriver made a motion for approval, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter, carried
3-0.
2)
Approval of basis for the acquisition of the right-of-way on the SW 70th
project and
authorize
the Public Works Department to proceed with the right-of-way acquisition.
Motion
for approval by Commissioner Doll, seconded by Commissioner Shriver, carried
3-0.
3)
Approval
of the utility agreement between RWD #5 and Butler County for the relocation of
the water line for the SW 70th project. Motion for approval by
Commissioner Doll, seconded by Commissioner Doll, carried 3-0.
4)
Authorized
the Director of Public Works to seek proposals for assisting in drafting
the 5-Year Solid Waste Management Plan update and
drafting new Solid Waste Regulations. Motion for approval by Commissioner Doll,
seconded by Commissioner Carpenter, approved 3-0.
Engineer
Daryl Lutz, advised that SW 70th will be open over the turnpike by
the end of June.
Administration
Information Board approved a $1,200,000 Grant for the U.S. Marshall’s.
