BUTLER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Monday, March 19, 2001

 

The Butler County Board of Commissioners was called to order by Commission Chairman, Bill Shriver.  Present were Commissioners Randy Doll and Will Carpenter along with County Administrator, Jay Newton and Clerk’s Secretary, Tindel Jennison.

 

COUNTY VOUCHER APPROVAL

Commissioner Doll moved to approve County Vouchers totaling $284,827.46.

Commissioner seconded the motion that carried 3-0.

 

ADS & ABATES APPROVAL

Commissioner Doll moved to approve Ads totaling $141.88 and Abates totaling $461.14 per approval #2040.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion that carried 3-0.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commissioner Doll moved to approve the minutes of Monday, March 12 and Tuesday, March 13, 2001.  Commissioner Shriver seconded the motion that carried 3-0.

 

BUILDING DEMOLITION BIDS (Re: 3/6/01 and 3/12/01 minutes)

Commissioner Carpenter moved to accept and let original bids stand as approved and leave bid award with Banks Construction.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion that carried 3-0.

 

COMM. CORR. DEPT. OPERATIONAL REVIEW

Community Corrections Director, Chuck McGuire reviewed the operations of the Community Corrections Department.  Mr. McGuire stated that the type of offenders has changed 180 degrees from its original responsibility (non-violent, vandalism, forgery, theft, etc to sex offenders and other violent crimes).  All funding for Community Corrections is from the state of Kansas.

 

J.J.A. DEPT. & JUVENILE INTAKE DEPT. REVIEWS

Ann Carpenter reviewed the operations of the Juvenile Justice Authority department and Sheri Vaughn-Gregg reviewed the operations of the Juvenile Intake Department.

 

CAP (Community Assistance Program) GRANT (US Marshall)

Commissioner Carpenter moved to accept the $1.2 million figure on the US Marshall’s proposal.  Commissioner Shriver seconded the motion that carried 3-0.

 

EXEC SESSION & ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Shriver moved to go into Executive Session at 11:45 AM to discuss acquisition of property and then adjourn.  Commissioner seconded the motion that carried 3-0.
