BUTLER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

CALL TO ORDER 

Commission Chairman Dan Woydziak called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order at 9:00 a.m.  Present were Commissioner Will Carpenter, Commissioner Randy Doll, Commissioner Randy Waldorf, Administrator Will Johnson, Jr., and Clerk Recorder Tammy Bridges.  Commissioner Mike Wheeler was on vacation.

 

ITEM #1 – RECEIVE KATHY GUY, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, WHO WILL PRESENT SIX DISASTER RESOURCE AGREEMENTS FOR AREA BUSINESSES

Kathy Guy, Assistant Director, Emergency Management, came before the Board to present six more Disaster Resource Agreements (DRA’s) with area businesses.  Agreements were presented from the following businesses:  Maclaskey Oilfield Services, Prestige Transportation Systems, Inc., Bluestem USD 205, Douglass USD 396, Arctic Glacier Inc., and Cummins Central Power.  County Counsel has approved the agreements.

 

Commissioner Waldorf motioned to approve and allow the Chair to sign the Disaster Resource Agreements with the following businesses:  Maclaskey Oilfield Services, Prestige Transportation Systems, Inc., Bluestem USD 205, Douglass USD 396, Arctic Glacier Inc., and Cummins Central Power.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

ITEM #2 – CONSIDER APPROVAL TO ALLOW SOUTH CENTRAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING CENTER AND JUVENILE JUSTICE SERVICES TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM OJJDP TO SERVE JUVENILES WITHIN BUTLER/ GREENWOOD/ELK COUNTIES THAT HAVE LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTACT AND ARE AT DANGER OF BEING REMOVED FROM THE HOUSE

Ann Carpenter, Juvenile Justice Services, came before the Board for approval for South Central Mental Health Counseling Center (SCMHCC) and Juvenile Justice Services to apply for a grant in the amount of $85,000 from OJJDP to serve juveniles within Butler/Greenwood/Elk Counties that have law enforcement contact and are at danger of being removed from the home.  The match will be supplied from the SCMHCC operating budget in the amount of $52,267.  There is no expense to the county.

 

Commissioner Doll motioned to approve the submission of the application for SCMHCC and Butler County for funding the Juvenile Justice Parental Modeling Program Grant in the amount of $85,000 and authorize the Chair to sign.  Commissioner Waldorf seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.  Commissioner Carpenter abstained.

 

OTHER ITEMS OF BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Commissioner Doll, Administrator Johnson, and the Board discussed creating articles of incorporation for the Wholesale Water District.  This will be an agenda item at a later date.

 

Commissioner Woydziak, Administrator Johnson, and the Board discussed the Butler/Rose Hill/ Andover road.

Administrator Johnson stated that the refinery is requesting a Special Use Permit for an employee and family picnic at the refinery.

 

Commissioner Carpenter motioned to approve Special Use Permit No. 06-02 for an employee and family picnic at the refinery.  Commissioner Waldorf seconded the motion.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Waldorf motioned to adjourn the meeting of the Board at 10:10 a.m.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion.  Motion carried 4-0.
