CALL TO ORDER

Commission Chairman Mike Wheeler called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were Commissioner Will Carpenter, Commissioner Randy Doll, Commissioner Randy Waldorf, Commissioner Dan Woydziak, Administrator Will Johnson, Jr., and County Clerk Ron Roberts.

Mr. Rod Anderson came before the Board to thank them for coming to Elbing for the meeting.

 

ITEM #3 – CONSIDER APPROVAL AND ALLOW CHAIR TO SIGN AGREEMENT BETWEEN MICHAEL A. RAUSCH, M.D., AND BUTLER COUNTY COMMISSION FOR DUTIES AS MEDICAL CONSULTANT TO THE BUTLER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Carol Borger, Health Director, came before the Board for approval of an agreement between Butler County Commission and Michael A. Rausch, M.D. for duties of Medical Consultant for the Butler County Health Department.  The Kansas Legislature states in K.S.A. 65-201 that counties with less than 100,000 in population will have a medical consultant who is licensed to practice medicine, surgery, or dentistry and who will consult with and direct the administrator of the local health department in public health programs and activities.  Carol Borger, Health Department Administrator, has visited with Dr. Rausch and he has agreed to become the Medical Consultant for the Health Department for $6,000.00 annually.

 

Commissioner Doll motioned to approve the Agreement between Michael A. Rausch, M.D., and the Butler County Commission for duties of Medical Consultant to the Butler County Health Department and allow the Chair to sign.  Commissioner Carpenter seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

ITEM #4 – CONSIDER APPROVING THE WAIVER OF CONSTRUCTION DEMOLITION LANDFILL FEES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING IN-KIND ASSISTANCE TO THE CITY OF LATHAM’S CDBG GRANT APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE FIRE DAMAGED LATHAM SCHOOL

Will Johnson, Administrator, came before the Board for approval to waive fees in the amount of $10,450.00 for construction demolition landfill for debris removed from Latham Public School.  The Latham public school was closed in the late 1980’s and later was destroyed by fire.  The City is applying for a grant from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for the complete demolition of the school.  Currently, the City has no money available for match for the grant; however, the County waiver of construction demolition landfill fees could be included as in-kind match in the grant application. 

 

Commissioner Woydziak motioned to recommend the waiver of construction demolition landfill fees for the purpose of providing in-kind match assistance to the City of Latham’s CDBG grant application for funding for the removal of the fire damaged Latham School.  Commissioner Waldorf seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

APPROVAL OF ADDS & ABATES

Commissioner Woydziak motioned to approve Adds & Abates #2235 dated September 19, 2005.  Abates in the amount of $502.24 and Adds in the amount of $1,293.36.  Commissioner Waldorf seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

OTHER ITEMS OF BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Administrator Johnson stated that the county’s mileage rate has increased to 48.5 cents a mile as of September 1, 2005 due to the federal government raising the rate.

 

ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner­ Woydziak motioned to adjourn the meeting of the Board at 7:45 p.m.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.
