COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

CALL TO ORDER
Commission Chairman Mike Wheeler called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order at 9:00 a.m. Present were Commissioner Will Carpenter, Commissioner Randy Doll, Commissioner Randy Waldorf, Commissioner Dan Woydziak, Administrator Will Johnson, Jr., and Clerk Recorder Tammy Bridges.
Commissioner Waldorf motioned to approve the minutes
of the Butler County Commission Meetings of Monday, October 10, 2005 as amended
and Tuesday, October 11, 2005 as written.
Commissioner Woydziak seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.
John Bailey, Professional Engineering Consultants, of Wichita, came before the Board for discussion of alternative wastewater disposal systems. Administrator Johnson and Mr. Bailey stated that they would try to meet with the Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE) for input. Mr. Bailey said he would contact someone he knows in Madison, Wisconsin to inquire about wastewater systems, look at some treatment alternatives, and return at a later date. The Board said it is important to encourage growth and preserve ag land.
RECESS
Commissioner Wheeler recessed the Board meeting at 11:00 a.m. for 5 minutes.
RECONVENE
Commissioner Wheeler reconvened the Board meeting at 11:05 a.m.
ITEM #1 – WORK SESSION – PLANNING
& ZONING
Rod Compton, Director of Planning and Development, came before the Board to discuss changes to the planning and zoning regulations and subdivision regulations.
Commissioner Woydziak stated that other counties are voting on casinos and wanted to know what the Board thought about hearing a proposal for a casino. The Board took the suggestion under advisement and no action was taken.
Commissioner Woydziak left the Board meeting at 11:55 a.m.
APPROVAL OF VOUCHERS
Commissioner Waldorf motioned
to approve the vouchers for October 17, 2005 in the amount of $165,061.32. Commissioner Doll seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
OTHER ITEMS OF
BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Administrator Johnson stated that there would be a retirement reception to honor Phil Hughey of the Public Works Department for his 41 years of service to the County on Friday, October 28, 2005 between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
Commissioner Carpenter reminded the Board of the Employee Appreciation Breakfast on Friday, October 21, 2005.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Waldorf motioned
to adjourn the meeting of the Board at 12:15 p.m. Commissioner Doll seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
