BUTLER COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Commission Chairman Mike Wheeler called the Butler County Board of Commissioners to order at 9:00 a.m.  Present were Commissioner Will Carpenter, Commissioner Randy Doll, Commissioner Randy Waldorf, Commissioner Dan Woydziak, Administrator Will Johnson, Jr., and Clerk Ron Roberts. 

 

ITEM #1 – RECEIVE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM SUSAN B. ALLEN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TO MAKE A REQUEST TO WAIVE OR REDUCE LANDFILL CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WASTE DISPOSAL FEES FOR A DEMOLITION PROJECT

Jim Poffinbarger, Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital came before the Board to request to waive or reduce landfill construction and demolition waste disposal fees for a demolition project. 

 

Commissioner Carpenter motioned to reduce the C&D Landfill fees to $1.50 per ton for the demolition project.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion.  Motion carried 4-0 Commissioner Wheeler abstained because he is a member of the Hospital Board. 

 

ITEM #2 – CONSIDER AN APPLICATION BY BEN MCCLURE TO REZONE APPROXIMATELY 10 ACRES IN THE AUGUSTA EXTRATERRITORIAL AREA FROM R6D (RURAL RESIDENTIAL DIVISION 6D) TO R6B (RURAL RESIDENTIAL DIVISION 6B)

Rod Compton, Director of Planning & Development, came before the Board for approval of an application by Ben McClure (McClure Brothers Farms) to rezone approximately 10 acres in the Augusta Extraterritorial area from R6D (Rural Residential Division 6D) to R6B (Rural Residential Division 6B).  McClure Bros. Farms owns approximately 103 acres located on the west side of SW River Valley Road approximately ½ mile south of U.S. Highway 54/400.

 

Commissioner Waldorf motioned to recommend approval of the application by Ben McClure to rezone a 26.2 acre parcel in the Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 29, Township 27 South, Range 4 East from Rural Residential Division 6D to Rural Residential Division 6C.  Commissioner Woydziak seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

ITEM #3 – RECEIVE AND OPEN PIPE CULVERT BIDS FOR BUTLER COUNTY

Darryl Lutz, P.E., Director of Public Works, came before the Board to receive and open pipe culvert bids for Butler County.  Each year the Public Works Department solicits bids for the purchase and delivery of pipe culverts used for replacement or new construction for entrances and cross road drainages and also for Township use.  Vendors wishing to bid were required to submit their bids by Friday, October 28, 2005.  Bids were received from:

Commissioner Woydziak motioned to receive the pipe culvert bids and to direct the County Engineer to tabulate and review the bids and to return at a later date with a recommendation for action regarding the award of bid.  Commissioner Waldorf seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

ITEM #4 – CONSIDER APPROVING GOING OUT FOR BIDS FOR REPLACEMENT OR PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE HIGHWAY DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Darryl Lutz, P.E., Director of Public Works, came before the Board for approval of going out for bids to replace or purchase equipment for the Highway Division of the Public Works Department.  Items proposed to be replaced at this time include four pickup trucks, one additional mid-size sport utility vehicle for the Public Works Director, three tandem axle dump trucks, one motor grader, two power washers, and one truck lift.  Also proposed is the purchase of a good used vibratory padfoot compactor.  These purchases are planned and budgeted and cash is available for making the necessary purchases.

 

Commissioner Waldorf motioned to authorize the Director of Public Works to obtain sealed bids for purchase of equipment for the Highway Division including 4 pick-up trucks, 1 mid-sized SUV, 3 tandem axle dump trucks, 1 motor grader, 2 power washers, 1 truck lift and 1 used vibratory padfoot compactor.  Commissioner Woydziak seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

OTHER ITEMS OF BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Commissioner Doll said he would like to see the survey comparing the salaries of Butler County elected officials to the salaries of elected officials in other counties and be put on the agenda in early December for Commission review.

 

Administrator Johnson reviewed the plaque for the East Annex Building.

Commissioner Woydziak motioned to adjourn the meeting of the Board at 10:55 a.m.  Commissioner Doll seconded the motion.  Motion carried 5-0.
