Kansas ID and Driver's License Requirements

Requirements for obtaining a Kansas Driver’s License or ID that would allow the legal bearer admittance on to an airplane or into federal facilities are changing. The Real ID Act, passed by Congress in 2005, requires state IDs and Driver’s Licenses to be Real ID compliant to board a plane or enter a federal facility starting October 1, 2020. IDs and Driver’s Licenses compliant with Real ID standards have a gold circle with a star cut out symbol in the top right corner of the card. Real IDs are optional but the lack of a compliant Driver’s License or ID will prohibit the bearer entrance into federal facilities or boarding commercial flights come October 1st, 2020. Below is some information on what a Real ID is, how to obtain one, and a checklist for what to bring with you to a Driver’s License station to complete the process.
