Pre-Filing & Pre-Trial Juvenile Diversion Requirements


Butler County Diversion participants range in age from 10-18. Pre-filing and pre-trial diversion agreements supervised by the Juvenile Intake and Assessment (JIAS) staff are referred by the Butler County Attorney's Office.

It is at the sole discretion of the Butler County Attorney's Office to determine who is offered a diversion agreement. It is also at the sole discretion of the Butler County Attorney's Office to determine what stipulations are assigned to each diversion participant.

All stipulations assigned and agreed to are required to be completed in a three month time period for all pre-filing diversion agreements. Agreed to stipulations for pre-trial diversions are required to be completed in a six month time period. At the completion of each diversion agreement, JIAS staff sends a completion letter to the participant, and the participant's parents / guardian and the Butler County Attorney's Office.
